What are fruits of repentance?

Jason Dohm explains in this video that we should bear fruits that are worthy of repentance. Repentance isn’t something that merely happens in the heart and leaves other aspects of our lives untouched. There are changes that happen - you think differently, speak differently, and do differently.

When people begin to repent, their lives begin to be conformed more to Scripture and ultimately, they are conformed to the image of Christ.

1 Peter 1:13-15 (NKJV) – “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct.”

When John the Baptist had his ministry of repentance and baptism, one of the things that he was preaching was that we should bear fruits worthy of repentance. In other words, repentance isn't something that just happens in the heart and leaves the life untouched. Because it actually is a change of heart, it doesn't leave the life untouched and there are actually changes that happen. You think differently, you speak differently, you do differently. When people begin to repent their lives begin to be conformed more and more to Scripture, which really means more and more conformed into the image of Christ.

When we really have ongoing lives of repentance, that's what it means. We're being conformed into the image of Christ.
