What needs to be an important priority of pastors?

Kevin Swanson explains in this video that pastors must be increasingly bold in their preaching as Peter was. Peter had emerged to call out a message of repentance on that day of Pentecost. Pastors must do that today in a society that opposes the truth. In his sermon, Peter was reminding his audience that they had killed their Messiah and calls them to repentance.

Similarly, pastors today need to boldly preach and engage in a message of repentance. Imagine telling people that they had killed their Messiah but that he would forgive them of their sins.

Acts 2:22-24 (NKJV) - "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know — Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death; whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it."

I want to encourage pastors to bold preaching as Peter did on that day of Pentecost. He came out of the chute, the Spirit had filled himself and the others, and he had emerged to call out a message of repentance on that day of Pentecost. And I want to encourage pastors to do that in the face of a society that is in opposition to the truth. And here's Peter opposing a system that had put the Messiah to death and pointing the finger at them and reminding them that they had killed their Messiah some 40 days earlier. And now he's calling them to repentance on that day of Pentecost.

This is what needs to happen in our churches. We need to encourage our pastors to bold preaching and to engage a message of repentance, calling people to their need for a Savior, a need for that salvation. Imagine telling people they had killed the Messiah, but it was the Messiah Himself who would forgive their sins, who would cleanse their sins because of the very sacrifice that He made on that cross some 40 days earlier. This is the message for the day. Yes, you're sinners, but that's why Jesus died.

And everybody in that congregation needs to say Amen to that message. And hopefully we begin to see tears rolling down the cheeks of those who hear the message and a change of perspective, a change of mind, a falling on their faces, a humbling before God, a crying out for the mercy of God, and then the joy that comes in the morning as God pours out His mercy upon those who called out for it.
