What is the effect of church leaders exemplifying a lifestyle of repentance?

Kevin Swanson explains in this video that the church leaders need to be the ones to exemplify a lifestyle of repentance to their congregations. They need to be the first to confess their sins and plead for God’s mercy - for themselves first and then for the rest of the congregation. 

They need to be overwhelmed with the holiness of God and their own sinfulness. If that is exemplified by the pastors and elders in the way they speak with others and their congregation, we would see a tremendous transformation in the churches.

Hebrews 13:17 (NKJV) – “Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.”

The church leaders, the elders in the church need to be the ones who best exemplify the lifestyle of repentance to their congregations. They need to be the ones who are first to humble themselves, the first to confess their sins, the first to recognize how sinful they are and to plead for God's mercy for themselves and then for the rest of the congregation. They should be the ones that are overcome, overwhelmed with this very intense vision of God's holiness versus their own sinfulness. And if that was conveyed, if that was exemplified through the way that they speak, through the way that they interact with others in the congregation, through the way that they confess their own sins during the prayer meetings. If that was exemplified by the pastors and the elders, I think we would see a tremendous transformation in our churches.
