What is an example of true repentance?

Dennis Gunderson shares in this video an example of true repentance. There was a man that he knew who had been hiding a secret lifestyle of sexual sin and had been recently found out and was now facing legal consequences for his actions.

This man was given an opportunity to plead not guilty but after becoming saved while in prison, he refused to plea that he was not guilty. Instead, he declared that he could not lie and try to claim that he was innocent. He would not try to use others to help him avoid the consequences of his sin.

Hebrews 10:26-27 (NKJV) - "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries."

Can I think of a true story of real repentance from my ministry? Yes, it would be hard to tell it briefly enough as I would like to. I'll give it a try, but we had a man some years ago who had been a member of another local church in our community of Tulsa and who had been a Sunday school teacher, a member of that church in good standing for many years and then it found that he had just he had been hiding a horrendous lifestyle of secret sexual sin of some of the worst possible kind for over a decade and this actually involved legal consequences for him because of the nature of it. He was given the opportunity by a lawyer and a judge to plead not guilty and to do battle with the charges that were up against him. And he actually, during the course of this, while being held in jail, I had the privilege of leading him to faith in Christ and seeing him come to real faith in Christ and as a result of that he notified both the lawyer and the judge that he said I am guilty and I refuse to adopt a plea of not guilty because this would be a lie.

I am, and he said, I will face the consequences of my sin. And I recall him specifically saying that, you know, I would rather fall into the hands of God than the hands of man. And he said, if I plead not guilty, I'm putting my trust in men to see if they will do battle for me and get me off this. He said, I'll plead guilty before God and man, and I'll put myself in the hands of God and see what He determines to do. You
