Is repentance necessary for salvation?

Don Hart explains in this video that repentance does not produce salvation but that it is a necessary component of salvation. One who has faith and is truly a child of God must be a repentant person.

This means that you have turned away from sin and have followed Christ. It is a fruit of a regenerate heart by the grace of God. Repentance will be present and be a perceptible, noticeable, and genuine effect of following Christ.

2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV) – “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us,[a] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Repentance is not something which produces salvation. And yet I believe repentance is necessary for salvation in that one whose heart is truly regenerated, who is given the gift of faith, who is truly surrendered and is a child of God must absolutely necessarily as a fruit of that being true in their life, be a repentant person. That means that you have turned away from that sin and you have turned to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. So I would say yes, repentance is necessary for salvation, but not for the reasons that some would blur the lines and create confusion. It will be present, therefore it is necessary for salvation to have been genuine and to have occurred. Not perfect repentance, but perceptible, noticeable, more often than not, genuine repentance following the Lord Jesus Christ. You
