What does family reformation look like?

Paul Carrington explains in this video that family reformation involves a family understanding how they can better align their family life to Scripture. There are always areas of our lives that need reforming. 

He shares a personal example of how he and his wife would study Scripture together as a family once a week, but they realized that Scripture commands fathers to study God’s Word together as a family on a regular basis. 

Deuteronomy 11:19 (NKJV) – “You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” 

You know, family reformation really looks like, I think, a mother and a father seeing in their own lives areas perhaps where they've missed it. I remember when I first got exposed to areas of family reformation, it was as though a whole world was opened up to me and at the same time it was like a wave of what have I missed, You know, almost like I want to redeem or restore the years that the locusts have eaten. And I ended up kind of maybe going in a variety of different directions. But the first things that looking back I just see as so valuable is we simply began to open up the scriptures and we would look at the scriptures and go through a book together. I thought before that I was doing a wonderful thing.

I would gather my family once every Thursday night and we'd read the scripture and I said, wow, I'm doing great. But then I began to realize that it's a daily walking with my wife and with the children and sitting around the Word of God and asking what sayeth the scriptures and praying together and singing together and you know that alone if I had to point to one thing that has changed our family more than anything else. It's that simple thing of gathering daily, family worship.
