How do fathers poorly implement reforms within their family and churches?
Anthony Mathenia explains in this video that one way that reformation can be poorly implemented is by a father who quickly applies the new truths that he has learned in his family in an iron-fisted manner.
While we do need strong men within families and churches, fathers also need a healthy dose of patient love to go along the truth that they are coming in contact with. They must care for those under their authority in the home and in the church. Ultimately, fathers are to point families and churches to God and not to themselves.
Colossians 3:21 (NKJV) – “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”
The most common way that Reformation is handled poorly is that We as husbands or dads or as pastors see a new truth and we run home quickly or run to the church quickly, whichever example fits, and we quickly implement all that we've read, these new truths that we've come across and we end up being iron-fisted. As much as we need strong biblical men in the homes and in the pulpits, we also need a healthy dose of patient love to go along with the truths that were coming into contact. We need to patiently and compassionately care for our people within the homes and within the church context, helping them to see the truth that we have been enamored by so that they too would be enamored not by our stressing of this truth but by the God of this truth.
