What does repentance involve?

Mike Davenport explains in this video that repentance is fleeing from and leaving behind your old ways and taking on God’s ways and thoughts. It involves meditating on the things of God instead of dwelling on sinful or idle things.

Repentance involves the turning to God from idols to serve Him, the true and living God. It involves the putting to death of sinful areas in your life.

Colossians 3:5 (NKJV) – “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

Repentance is fleeing from and leaving behind my own ways and taking upon myself God's ways to refuse those thoughts that come to my mind and turning to what God's thoughts are and thinking His thoughts after Him. So that would be my simplest definition of repentance. It's turning to God from idols to serve the true and the living God.
