In Christian families, repentance should be a part of the fabric of everyday life. We are living together in close quarters and are prone to sin against each other. A Christian home should be a place where repentance is on display regularly. Fathers should be examples of repentance to their families.
Ephesians 6:4 (NKJV) - "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord."
Home is the ideal place for repentance because home is living together in close quarters. Home is really where we're most prone to sin against each other because we're most comfortable with each other and oftentimes with familiarity comes contempt. And we don't treat each other as we should and we need to repent. So in Christian families repentance should be part of the fabric of life in the Christian home because we're living together in close quarters, we're working together, we're prone to sin against each other in an environment like this. So a Christian home should actually be one where repentance is on display regularly.
And fathers should lead in that. Fathers shouldn't be afraid. In fact, fathers should make the example for what it's like to go and say, I should not have said that. It was sinful for me to say that. Please forgive me.
