What does repentance look like?

Paul Carrington explains in this video that the source of repentance begins with God – it is a gift of God. God allows a man to see himself for who he is in the light of who He is.

Once that person is saved, his ideas of God are changed where he begins to align his life with God’s ways that are laid out in Scripture. He forsakes his old, sinful practices and pursues godliness. 

Isaiah 55:7 (NKJV) – “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” 

The source of repentance absolutely begins with God. It's the gift of God. God allows a man to see himself as he is, begins to show himself in the light of who God is. And he begins to be a base, perhaps even totally undone. But then what happens is God gives him a recourse.

And repentance is this mindset that what I once used to think I no longer think. Who I once was now I see myself no longer as that individual and even if I had a concept of God now my ideas of God have been completely exploded to the point where now everything has been disheveled but really in a good way in the sense that I've now begun a journey in that I begin to more align my ways and my thoughts with what God has said about himself, who he really is and how we ought to live in light of who he is.
