Will Scripture dictate how we live our lives or will we rely on the methodologies of men?

Paul Thompson explains in this video that we either will be governed by Scripture alone or we will live and rely upon the methodologies of men. Scripture is sufficient no matter your situation. We ought to be hungering and thirsting to understand what God desires for our life. 

It is sufficient to assist fathers to teach their children, it is sufficient for pastors to teach their congregation, it is sufficient to teach married couples about marriage. There is no need to look elsewhere for answers and guidance. If there is an issue in the church or family, Scripture speaks on that. What and who will we adopt as our ultimate source of authority?

Psalms 19:7-10 (NKJV) - "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb." 

You know, I think in the Reformation that I still find great passion in my own life is it comes down to the sufficiency of Scripture. Will the Scripture be our governing documents that we live on? Or again, are we going to go with the wind of doctrines of the methodologies and the philosophies of men? For me, it really has come to the sufficiency of Scripture, the preaching of Scripture, the teaching of Scripture. For me as a person, personally, for Scripture, for me to hunger and thirst for what does God have to say more than what man has to say.

As a husband, for me to lead my spouse in the directions of Scripture, not just in the common wind of, again, what relational things that are popular and they may be helpful but they become the primary as opposed to the support or the coming alongside of things. And then as a father, that this word is sufficient for me to teach my children, to teach them all things that are necessary in life, to encourage, to strengthen, to reprove, and then in my church as well, that position of the sufficiency of Scripture, that it is a common thread. Is there an issue that we need to deal with in the church? The Scripture speaks about it. Do we believe that or are we going to go again with the winds of men?
