Is your family too busy to pursue the things of God?

Sam Waldron explains in this video that there is a tendency for families to be busy -- so busy that they don’t have time for a godly family life. There is no time for family worship or to spend time together as a family in prayer. They are so focused on various activities that they lose sight of what is most important.

In modern society, both children and parents are so busy with so many different activities that families often overcommit themselves. If you are going to have a godly family, you are going to have to prioritize and be selective as to what you as a family choose to invest your time into. You must control what activities your family participates in and not let those activities control your family.

Matthew 6:33 (NKJV) – “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

There does seem to be a real tendency for families to be very, very busy. And in that busyness, not to have time for a godly family life. And that of course begins, but doesn't end, with having regular family worship. But it also requires time for simply for mom and dad and the kids to chill out together and have time together. And in our modern society kids are so busy with their teams, their music, their drama, and a thousand other things and so are parents that I think it's really my biggest concern is an over commitment and I think one of the things I want to say is that look, if you're going to have a godly family, you have to take time to do it.

And that means you have to be really selective. I'm not against music and I'm not against a drama of the right kind, I'm not against kids playing sports. But you've got to be really selective and you've got to control those things and not let those things control your family.
