What can we learn from the holiness of God?

Jason Dohm explains in this video that out of all the attributes of God, holiness is God’s “master attribute.” God is holy. His holiness speaks to all His other attributes. He is holy in His love and mercy. He is separate and no one can compare themselves to God. No one can love as God can or be just as He can.

Paul says in Ephesians 5:1 that we are to be “imitators of God as dear children.” As Christians, we are to learn to imitate and act like God. As children of God, we should strive to be like our heavenly Father. This is the duty of the Christian - to learn how to imitate or act as God commands. To be set apart from the world, as He is.

1 Peter 1:16 (NKJV) – “Be holy, for I am holy.”

So holiness is God's master attribute in other words he has many attributes, and he's perfect in all of them But the Bible never says any of his attributes three times, but it does holiness God is holy holy holy And it really it speaks to all of his other attributes as well. He's holy in his love. He's holy in his mercy. In other words, he's other. He's separated in his love.

Nobody loves like him. Nobody has mercy like him. No one is just like him. So, his holiness actually relates to all his other attributes. As the master attribute of God, as people who are learning to be conformed into the image of Christ, then this is to be like God.

Paul says it this way in Ephesians 5 verse 1. He says, be imitators of God as dear children. So This is the life, this is the duty of the Christian. Very central to the Christian life is to learn to imitate God, to learn how to act like God. So if holiness is God's master attribute, and being separate, being peculiar, in his love, in his mercy, in his justice, in all of his attributes.

And if our task is to learn to be imitators of him, as dear children, to learn to act like our dad, then holiness is important in the Christian life, fundamental in the Christian life.
