What are the effects of a civil magistrate who has no fear of God? Paul Thompson explains in this video that a civil magistrate who has no fear of God has no interest in the things of God. Those under his jurisdiction will reap the negative impact of being under that authority. This civil magistrate has no awareness of the sovereignty of God or of his authority and jurisdiction. An individual placed in authority ultimately accelerates their departure of the holiness of God. God does work through the civil magistrate, but if that government has no acknowledgement of God’s provision and standards, they will act in an arrogant, independent manner and reach for more authority and more power than what is given them. The impact, in short, is disastrous. Instead of realizing that they are installed by God to bring peace and to biblically rule those under them, they push their own agenda, their own religion on those under their ever-increasing jurisdiction. God's ways are right and good, but that is lost when man corrupts God's original purpose for the civil magistrate. Romans 13:1 (NKJV) – “Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.”

A civil magistrate who has no regard for God, has no interest in the things of God, those in his jurisdiction will reap the negative impacts of one who has no acknowledgement of God, who doesn't even understand that he's given authority by God to be a magistrate or to be a judge or to be a a public servant to the people that have elected him. He has no awareness of the sovereignty of God and so the result of that upon that community or upon that state or upon that nation increases their stepping away from the holiness of God. Even just in the common grace of God itself, God works through governments to be protectors for a people, to provide services for a government or for a people that the government serves. And if that government has no acknowledgement and no awareness of God's provisions for that people, then that magistrate will behave in an arrogant way, that judge will behave in an independent manner, even supposing himself to be the supreme rule of the land, and putting himself in a position of higher authority than has even given to him by job description. So the impact of that has a disastrous impact upon other, both believers and unbelievers.

So it's an amazing dynamic that we live in, in such a place as this, with all of these components related to these things. But ultimately here, where a government does not acknowledge his or her position as one being given by God to rule the people and to give peace to the people. And they position themselves in place to be a lord over the people and to push a religion, even though they wouldn't declare that a religion upon a people. You
