How can we better grasp what the fear of God is?
In this short video, Paul Thompson explains that this fear is not a fear where we’re in terror and horror of something, causing us to cower into a corner. Rather, the fear of God is best understood when we couple it with the grace of God. This fear is a realization for the Christian that someone is in a higher position of authority and that there is thus a responsibility to honor a supreme being, God.
Psalm 112:1 (NKJV) – “Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commandments.”
Fear, by the definition even, this reality that there is someone who has a higher position of authority. There is this responsibility that I have, that a believer has to honor this being who has supreme right in our life. And so the fear of God is not just something that puts my mind to trembling in a corner, shaking and wondering, you know, how am I going to survive this moment? But when coupled with the grace of God, it is, it is, maybe even a better way to say that would be that I can't really express the fear of God without an understanding of the grace of God, and I can't really express the grace of God without a right understanding of the fear of God.
