In this clip, Craig Houston points out that the scripture teaches that God's grace not only saves but also works to make a Christian holy now, not just in the future state.
Titus chapter number two it says for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men Teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lust we should live soberly righteously and godly in this present world, looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee." And I think of the abuse of the grace of God in our current culture. You know, the admonition of Paul, should we sin that grace may abound, God forbid. And here we have a testimony from Paul to Titus, the pastor who's in Crete, this place where the men are called evil beasts and slow bellies, and they've come to know Jesus.
And now they need to be taught that the same grace that saved them also wants to set them apart in a holy way, set them apart in holy living, that their life would be filled with sobriety and righteousness and godliness in this present world. Not simply with a mere hope of in the future one day the impudent righteousness of Christ will be realized, but that in the present the imputed righteousness of Christ should be evidenced, and that the holiness of God should be being made manifest in our lives today, not just in eternity.
