In this Video, Craig Houston explains that proper expository preaching is worshipful. He says as an expository preacher, it forces him to go to Scripture, to be faithful to Scripture, and to prostrate himself before Scripture. God is both honored and glorified when a preachers submit themselves under the authority of Scripture, not exalting mans thoughts but GOD's.

There's something about preaching expositionally that forces the preacher to go to the scriptures, forces the preacher to be faithful to the text. In one sense, It forces the pastor to prostrate himself before Holy Scripture. That's what worship is. Worship is not making what I think preeminent. Worship is making what God has given as Preeminent, preeminent.

And I think that for the people in receiving the preaching of the Word of God, they also need to come with a worshipful heart to say, bring the book, as they did in Nehemiah chapter 8 verse 1 when all the people gathered together. They said, bring the book. We want to hear what the word of God has to say. We don't want to hear what man has to say. So when you have in a proper understanding of biblical worship through preaching, you have a preacher that comes and prostrates himself before the Word, and you have a people that come and prostrate themselves before the Word of God, and God is glorified.

God is honored. God is pleased with that. I believe it's a sweet savor in the nostrils of God when we have that kind of biblical preaching.
