Frank and Nathan Maxon explain in this video what some of the downsides of being in a missionary family. Generally, the positives outweigh the negative aspects, but sometimes, it can be difficult to find friends who can relate and understand different cultural aspects that we are used to here in America.

Okay, so, Father Frank Maxson and his son Nathan. Nathan, you've been here for many years. You almost kind of grew up here. You're 26 years old right now. Hey, tell us what are some of the downsides of a missionary family in a foreign country.

There are a lot of challenges to being uh an M. K. A missionary kid as they call them. Um Generally though the upsides, the positive things really outweighed the negative things. But as far as the negative things go, I can think of, you know, it's...sometimes it's hard to find friends that really understand your culture and the way you think and the way you feel sometimes.

That hasn't really been the case for me for the last several years. But that has been a factor at times. And then of course the obvious thing of finding a spouse in a foreign country is often quite a challenge. And then there's the ordinary sickness like malaria and all that kind of stuff. You get used to it and the Lord gives you grace.

His grace is sufficient.
