In this video, Scott Brown interviews Malamulo Chindongo on the spread of the prosperity gospel in Africa.
We all know that the prosperity gospel has taken Africa by storm and there are reasons for that and you have some thoughts about that. Could you talk to us about why the prosperity gospel has taken such a foothold here. All right, yeah, thank you. I just talked about the prosperity gospel. We are coming from a background where we never had preachers coming through cable TV or just on TV, we never had CDs, books of all these prosperity gospel and preaching.
But we are coming from a background where we had just witch doctors coming with pamphlets, coming to us with different things, adverts, and telling us how if you wanted a good marriage, if you wanted to make more money, if you wanted to get a promotion on your job if you wanted to have more children and you know things like those and so we're coming from that background with doctors advertising and telling us what to do and people going there, families going there for help. And now they've prospered the gospel preachers now who are coming on TV, radio and books and pamphlets and they're saying the same thing and so it's easy for most Africans to relate to that and that's why they're persuaded gospel has actually taken Africa by storm. So the witch doctor controls God to get you a blessing and the prosperity gospel says you can control God to get your blessing just name it and claim it. That's basically what they what they are teaching the Africans down there.
