What does it mean that God is immutable?

God never changes. This causes us to think of God's name, Yahweh, that was revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14. God called Himself "I AM" and "I AM THAT I AM." This name means that God's purposes come out of Himself and do not change. God is who He is. God's purposes, promises, and character never change because He is the one that is "from within determined."



What does it mean that God is immutable? Well, the word immutable means unchangeable. It means that God never changes. And the thing that I think of when I think of God's immutability is his name, Yahweh. This is the name that was revealed to Moses, of course, in Exodus 3.14.

When God described himself as I am and I am that I am. Because the name Yahweh, I am what I am, means in the language of your hardest boss that God is, God's purposes come out of himself and don't change. God is who he is.
