When Christians are walking through difficult times, they usually ask, "Why? Why is God doing this?"

But that is not an appropriate question. We do not need to know why God is doing something if we know who He is. We are to look for peace in the fact that the One that is in complete control over the situation is just and loving.

"Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits." Daniel 11:32

The people who know who God is will be able to act with strength. The knowledge of God is not just some academic exercise. It is absolutely necessary for us to know the character of God.

When Christians are walking through difficult times in their life, usually the question that we receive most as ministers of Christ is, Why? Why is God doing this? But that's not an appropriate question. We do not need to know why God is doing something if we know who He is. If we know His character, if we know He is righteous and loving and holy, we know that whatever He's doing is right.

So we're not to look for peace in the answers. We're to look for peace in the fact that the one who is sovereign over this situation and in complete control is just and loving. Now, there's a there's a passage in scripture in Daniel chapter 11, verse 32, probably with reference to the time of Antiochus Epiphanes, very vile man who was coming against the people of Israel. It says by smooth words, he will turn to godlessness. Those who act wickedly toward the covenant, but the people who know their God will display strength and take action.

It doesn't mean the people who know what's going on or how it's going to end, But just the people who know who God is will be able to act with strength. So again, with this matter of the knowledge of God, it is not just some academic exercise. It's absolutely necessary for us to be strong behind enemy lines in a fallen world. We must know the character of God.
