Not only is God self-sufficient (He finds sufficiency in Himself), but His sufficiency overflows so that we can be partakers of it. We turn to God for our every need! In Jeremiah 2, God brings two things against His people: they have forsaken the fountain of life and they have dug their own broken cisterns that can hold no water. In this we see that our sufficiency can only be found in His. If we seek for satisfaction or fulfillment in anything else, we will find them to be broken cisterns.

Only Jesus Christ can satisfy us.

Not only is he self-sufficient, meaning he finds sufficiency in himself, but his sufficiency is such that it overflows so that we can be partakers of that sufficiency that comes from Him. And so we turn to God for our every need, for the sufficiency that He is for us. In Jeremiah 2, God has two things that He brings witness against his people. One is that they have forsaken the fountain of life. The second thing is they have gone and hewn out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

And so in that we see that even our sufficiency is found in His sufficiency. That we as created beings of God, if we seek for satisfaction, if we seek for fulfillment in anything else, we will find them to be broken cisterns. The only sufficiency, the only thing that will ever truly satisfy us is Jesus Christ, that fountain of living waters. You
