What does the glory of God mean?

Dr. John Snyder explains in this video that we ought to be captivated by the glory of God. So, what does "glory" mean? It means something that has worth, weight, or value. 

Correspondingly, the glory of God is the weight, seriousness, or substance of God. It can also mean His reputation. 

John 1:14 (NKJV) - "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."

To be captivated by the glory of God. Glory is a word we use a lot in the Bible. We use it a lot in our churches. It's just a word that means something that has worth or value. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word meant weight.

So we think of something that's weighty and not something that's light. Especially in the Hebrew culture, something that was weighty would be valuable, something that was light was not valuable. We use the word that way today when we say that's a weighty or a heavy topic or that's a light matter. God is not a light matter. He is not a light matter to the believer.

Saved by grace, yes, but that makes us take God seriously. So The glory of God is the weight or the worth, the seriousness, the substantialness of God. In the New Testament, the word for glory also means reputation. What do people think of someone? So someone's glory obviously would be what people say about them.
