How can we explain the glory of God to our young children?

Dr. Carlton McLeod explains in this video that when he begins to explain the concept of the glory of God to his own young children that he finds it helpful to  explain what God has done so that they are in awe of God.

God made everything for His own glory. He sent His only Son to die for you so you could enjoy Him forever. He is a loving and powerful God.

Romans 11:36 (NKJV) - "For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen."

I'm talking to my children. I have a child that's not too far from eight. One of the things when this topic comes up I like to do is explain to them, or at least use as an example for them, the things that they love. They love to look at nature. They love to Talk about the stars and what's in the sky They love to talk about the fish and the birds and and the whales the sharks And so when we consider the glory of God Look at all that he's created look at The just how wonderfully big he is how powerful He is to have put the Sun where He put it, and the Moon where He put it, and the Stars where He put it, the elephants and the grass and the trees.

God made all of that for his own glory. That's the God that you serve. And he loved you so much that he sent his son Jesus to come and die for you so that you could enjoy him forever. The God who made everything that you see around you is incredibly powerful but also loving. And when I look to explain the glory of God to my children and consider this topic for my children, I often start where they're already in awe.
