How can parents enjoy God?

Jason Dohm explains in this video that one way parents can assist in this area is for parents to guard against false conversion. We must teach our children what salvation truly means. Children cannot merely just take their parents' word for it but must actually run to Christ for salvation and be born again.  

2 Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV) - "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified."

So how can parents help their children enjoy God? I think the first way, a really important way, is to guard against false conversion. Most children in Christian homes, or at least many, probably most, if their parents are following the Lord, if their parents say that it's important to embrace the work of Jesus Christ, they will intellectually assent to that. In other words, they'll say, makes enough sense to me. And so they want to please their parents, they want to be like their parents, and so they believe in God and trust in Jesus at that level.

And I just think I want to say that fundamentally that is not the same thing as being born again. We must be born again. It's not enough to simply take our parents' words for it. We have to understand who God is in all of His holiness and who we are with our sins against Him. And we have to run to Jesus for mercy based on the work that He did on the cross.

But Part of children's inability to not enjoy God sometimes can be false conversion, having this level of believing God in the sense that they take their parent's word for it, but they've never really run to Christ to be free from the weight of their sins. God is really boring to the unbeliever. God is really unenjoyable to the unbeliever. So the first thing that a parent can do is really just to go for the child's heart and try to ensure that at the right time that they really understand these things and that there's that difference between an intellectual understanding and agreement with gospel truths, being different from being born again. And then the second thing I think that parents can do is to enjoy God themselves and and to give their children a window into that.
