What can mothers learn from the nurturing ways of Jesus?

In his sermon, Paul Thompson highlights how mothers can adopt the nurturing approach of Jesus Christ to disciple their children. Drawing from the way Jesus cared for and instructed his disciples, Thompson explains that mothers can teach their children important aspects of being human, being kind, and being gentle. He emphasizes that a mother can disciple her children by teaching them how to anticipate the sweet and good things of God, much like anticipating a father's return home.

Thompson also underscores that while a mother should be nurturing and kind, she should encourage her sons to grow up masculine and her daughters to grow up feminine. He insists that a mother can disciple her sons by helping them learn masculine traits, and her daughters by helping them understand feminine attributes. Through this, children learn to understand and embrace their respective identities.

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV): "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."

A mother can learn a lot from the Lord Jesus Christ in discipling her children. Look at how the Lord nurtured the disciples. He cared for them. He was gentle with them. He fed them.

He bed them down at nights. She can be a beautiful nurturer. You'll also hear the Lord Jesus speak sternly to the disciples. He'll instruct them directly. You can even find Him instructing them.

You're not being very polite right now When the disciples are wanting to push the children away, and the Lord Jesus Christ says, Hey, don't suffer the little children, let them come unto me. So the Lord Jesus Christ is teaching the disciples in some degree of what it's like to be polite and kind and courteous, I think a mother can do that really beautifully. And that's a real beautiful marker of a mother teaching her children these important aspects of being human, being kind, and being gentle. I think a mother can disciple her children by teaching them how to set a table. The Lord set a table many times for his disciples.

And a mother can learn this from the Lord Jesus Christ that we're going to feast and we're going to eat well today and and we're going to celebrate and rejoice. I think a mother can teach her children, hey by the way your father's coming home soon and and we're going to be ready for Him. We want to have the table set for Him. We want to have ourselves ready. We want to cheer when He walks in the door.

And so a mother can really teach a child how to really anticipate the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, how to anticipate the sweet and the good things of God. I think a mother can help disciple her sons by not letting her sons be being effeminate, while still being nurturing and kind, but not passing off these kinds of traits to a son that she ought to trade off or pass off to her daughters, but to encourage her sons to learn how to... I think a mother can do well to disciple her son to let him learn how to throw a rock. And I think she can do well to disciple her daughter by helping her grow with the affection of putting a band-aid on dad when he has a scratch. Letting both of them learn who they are, and I think a mother can do that.

I think a mother can help a son grow up to be masculine, and I think a mother can do that. I think a mother can help a son grow up to be masculine, and I think a mother can help a daughter grow up to be feminine.
