What does Acts 1:8 mean for you in your everyday life?

We are called to reach out, not just to those in our immediate vicinity, but to the farthest corners of the world. Yet, it is crucial to not only talk about these remote areas but to actively spread the Gospel both at home and beyond. It is about striking a balance between nurturing discipleship where we are and expanding it to places yet unreached.

Quoting William Carey, Washer reinforces the idea that we are either called to descend into the well of missionary work ourselves or support those who do. While evangelizing in our local communities is important, it is equally critical to plant churches in other cities and the most remote parts of the world. We need to keep an eye on the larger picture, understanding that the Great Commission extends beyond our immediate surroundings.

Acts 1:8 (NKJV): "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

Acts 1-8 is important for so many reasons. You shall receive power. You shall be my witnesses. He kind of geographically breaks the world down. And what we need to realize is that we are called to reach everywhere.

There are so many people who are just focused on their area and they forget about the remotest part of the world. There are others who all they talk about is the remotest part of the world. They never go there, but they also don't disciple at home. And what we have to see is that we have a responsibility to take the gospel, where we are planted, but also look beyond that. And as I've always said with regard to the Great Commission, you can break it down into two things.

I borrow this from William Carey. You're either called to go down into the well or you're to hold the rope for those who go down? So those churches that are are evangelizing in their Jerusalem, well, they need to see that planting a church in Samaria, planting a church in the next city is just as important as planting a church in the remotest parts of the world. But we're also to have an eye on the remotest parts of the world.
