Does our current educational system equip our daughters for godly womanhood and our sons for godly manhood?

In this sermon by Kevin Swanson, he proposes that the egalitarian approach to education may fail to prepare our children according to their God-intended roles. Swanson suggests that girls should be raised with the vision of becoming help meets for their husbands, home managers, and keepers at home, as described in Genesis and the books of Timothy and Titus. Modesty in dress and spirit, and meekness are some of the character traits that should be inculcated in them.

Similarly, boys should be trained to become providers and spiritual leaders for their families. This training should imbue them with the ability to pray with lifted hands without wrath and doubting, as stated in 1 Timothy. Swanson reminds parents to keep these objectives in mind, especially during the teenage years, to raise men and women according to the roles God has laid out in His Word.

1 Timothy 4:12 (NKJV): "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

I would say in our current system we have such an egalitarian approach to education that We're not seeing that we're raising our daughters with the vision for godly womanhood We're not amazing raising our men with the vision for godly manhood I think there is a distinction between how you would educate a young man and a young woman, you know God sets out a different objective He wants us to set a goal, a vision in mind for raising our daughters to be help meets for their husbands, Genesis chapter two. Oikos, despotels, or home managers, keepers at home, translated different ways in 1 Timothy 5 and Titus chapter 2, but that's an objective, that's a goal, that's what we're supposed to train our daughters to be. They're to be modest in dress, and modest in heart, and they're not to be, you know, a meek and quiet spirit. So you have all these sort of objectives, these character traits that are specific to gender. As well, our young men are to be trained to be providers for their own homes, 1 Timothy 5 and verse 8, that's a gender specific passage.

Also 1 Timothy chapter 2 verse 8, I would that men everywhere pray with lifting up of holy hands without wrath and without doubting, which means that our young men need to be spiritual leaders. They need to be trained to be spiritual leaders. So you have these different objectives that are set out. Obviously our young men and young women are to glorify God and join forever, to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness. They're to function in terms of loving the body and the church, but there are different roles that are set out.

Therefore, I think we as parents need to keep these objectives in mind, and certainly through the teenage years, We're preparing our young women to be godly women and our young men to be godly men as defined by the characters, the gender roles that God has laid out in His Word.
