How can we, as individuals, fulfill the Great Commission?

Trent Moody explores this question and explains that making disciples of all nations isn't a singular task, but a slow, long-term process of individual discipleship. We should understand that this process can start in our own homes and local communities. Supporting ministries financially and through prayer and encouragement is also crucial. Some families even participate by writing letters to believers in other parts of the world.

Discipleship is a continuous process that our children will carry forward. By discipling our children, the impact multiplies, as they can disciple their own children, and it spreads. This process of discipleship is not limited to our immediate surroundings but extends to the nations, fulfilling the Great Commission in a unique and personal way. We are all part of this grand plan, whether we are called to go across the ocean or support those who do.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV): 'Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.'

In my earlier years, that passage really, I felt was a burden upon my heart because I'm sitting here thinking, how can I possibly make disciples of all nations? I'm one person. And as I grew and matured and just began to read God's Word more, I realized that making disciples of all nations is not my job singularly, but it's actually a long, slow process of making disciples individually. You know, it's very interesting because Jesus, the book of Hebrews says that God sent forth His Son in the fullness of time, this perfect time God did that. Yet it was before there was electricity, before there was an internet, before there was vehicles, before there was airplanes, before there was any of this modern transportation and communication, He sent forth His Son at that time to win the world.

And we need to realize that winning the world starts in our home. We have a mission field right inside our doors, and we have these little people depending on us, and we can share the gospel with them, but it doesn't end there, because then we can reach outside, even into our local community or even extended family, and then we may be called to go across the ocean or to another country or to some unreached people group. Most likely, the vast majority of us, no, we won't. We'll be called, as they say, to hold the rope as others go down into the well. And so that comes in with supporting these ministries financially, supporting them even through, and especially through prayer, and also encouragement.

You know, some families have great ministries by writing letters to those who are in other parts of the world. And so that's actually us partaking in that, making disciples of all nations, and realizing that this discipleship process is something that our own children will then carry out as well. When we disciple our children it actually grows exponentially because then they and disciple their children and it spreads.
