We need to realize that God is not biting his nails wondering what's going to happen as evil seems to be flourishing. Everything is still going according to plan. God is on the throne. He's the sovereign ruler of all. Even in places where the Christian church is physically persecuted, people are actually being martyred and the church goes underground.

Don't think that God and his cause has been defeated. Not at all. Behind the scenes, God is doing something. It's basically what happened when Habakkuk was complaining to the Lord about Judah and how corrupted it had become. And God was saying, don't worry, I'm bringing the Babylonians.

They'll sort that out. And he complains again, how can you, God, bring a nation that's worse than Judah to come and punish them? And his answer is, don't worry, I'll sort out Babylon as well. In Jesus' eyes, I'm still in charge. And I love the way in which that section ends with the words, the Lord is in his holy temple, let all the earth be silent before him.

In other words, bow down and worship. That's what I would say to God's people in the midst of a militant atheism that seems to be relentless in destroying the Christian church and anything that is moral and ethical. Don't despair. Trust in the Lord. Continue to do what the Lord wants you to do, And the end will finally vindicate the truth.
