In the sermon 'What to do in the Face of Anxiety' by Pooyan Mehrshahi, Christians are encouraged to maintain a posture of trust in God amidst anxiety and evil. Emphasizing Psalm 37, believers are reminded not to fret over evildoers but to trust in the Lord and do good. The sermon highlights the importance of anchoring oneself in God's sovereignty, faithfulness, and promises. Jesus's assurance of His constant presence reinforces the call to pursue righteousness and reflect God's character through kindness and compassion. By entrusting ourselves to God, steadfastly doing good, and preaching the gospel, Christians can advance God's kingdom and experience peace beyond understanding, as referenced in Philippians 4.
Now as Christians our posture and as families our posture in the face of evil that we see in the face of anxiety in face of frustrations should be one of trust fret not We must trust in a sovereign God who owns all things. This earth is His footstool and We must remember that. We must commit to, under God, to do good to all men, especially to the household of faith. And so just as Psalm 37 exhorts us not to fret because of evildoers, but to trust in the Lord and to do good, we are called to maintain faith. We are called to maintain integrity amidst adversity.
It doesn't matter what the world is doing to us. Who are we in the presence of God? Who are we in private? Who are we in public? Instead of being consumed by anxiety, instead of being consumed by frustration, we are to anchor ourselves in God's faithfulness, in His sovereignty, in His promises.
When the Lord Jesus Christ says, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen, he says. We trust that. He puts a signature to it with his amen. And we know that he will ultimately bring justice.
He will vindicate us. We do not vindicate ourselves. And that means actively we pursue righteousness, Christ-ness, His glory. We actively pursue to be like Him in His kindness, in His compassion, even when we are surrounded by darkness. So by entrusting ourselves to God and steadfastly doing good, we reflect his character and in the midst of it we preach the gospel, we bear witness of his message of salvation, we advance his kingdom and we experience his peace that passes all understanding as we read in Philippians 4.
