In the sermon 'The Meaning of Occupy Till I Come' by Alexander Strauch, the speaker emphasizes the importance of being active and engaged in Christian service. He urges believers not to succumb to passivity or despondency, which he identifies as tools of the devil. Instead, Christians should be positive and proactive, as there is much work to be done within the community. Strauch highlights the significance of the 'one another' commands in the New Testament, encouraging acts of service, prayer, and care. He provides practical examples of ministries, such as prayer groups, phone calls, and card writing, especially for those in need of encouragement. The sermon underscores that the faithful should remain busy for Jesus, assured of His presence and grace, even in challenging times.
Don't back off, don't be passive, don't be despondent. We are to be active for the Lord. There's much to do. There's so much in the New Testament about the one another commands, serving one another, praying for one another, caring for one another. There's much to do.
There's so many needs. So we have to be very careful of despondency, which is a great tool of the devil, and well we go there's so many problems in the world. Well you know what? If I'm reading the Christian faith right, we should be a very positive people. The best is yet to head.
The Lord is with us. We're not alone. And in the hardest of times, we see God's wonderful, gracious hand in our lives. So that's what I would say, occupy till I come. Be busy for Jesus.
And if you're not busy, why not call me on the phone. I'll tell you plenty of things we can do. We can all have prayer ministries. We can have phone ministries, card writing ministries. My wife writes lots of cards and letters every day.
People love it. Just picking up the phone and calling senior citizens in your church, people who are suffering, people need encouragement. Pray on the phone. There is so much to do and there's the whole ministry of encouragement. That's an actual a gift, encouragement.
