The speaker talks about the millstones on the property, explaining their use in grinding corn and their significance in relation to Jesus' words in Matthew 18. Jesus warns about causing little ones to stumble and says that it would be better to have a millstone hung around one's neck than to cause a child to sin. The speaker emphasizes the importance of removing anything that could cause children to stumble, and warns that sin should be cut out of one's life like a dangerous piece of farm equipment.
I want to remind you something if you look around boys. Have you noticed the millstones around this property? If you if you've noticed the millstones lift up your hand So do you know what a millstone is? I'll tell you what a millstone is. A millstone is a large stone.
There are four of them. Most of them are large like this. They weigh six to eight hundred pounds. They're very heavy. But when you're grinding corn or some other, you put a millstone on the top and a millstone on the bottom and then you turn the millstone and it's how you create wheat or corn, corn meal.
And these millstones were taken out of Mills within about 10 miles of here they were probably from the 1700s and I I got them probably 20 years ago, but I have they're on the property for a particular reason Who can tell if you're if you're under age? 10 Who can tell me where one millstone is raise your hand where? By the pond oh, but they're two by the pond. There three by the pond which were you talking about the one away one closest to you of closest to the pond okay yet there's one very close to the pond where's another one There's oh there's one by my house by the barn you're right, that's that's But there are three of them that are really close to this hill. How about you?
Flagpole. There's one laying right against the rock at the flagpole. Yep. Note there's not one over there, But there are three of them right over near the pond. One's at the flagpole, and then one is to the right-hand side of the pavilion, the shelter.
And then there's another one right in those trees. There's a small one in those trees. And, um... But those millstones are here for a reason, because the Bible talks about millstones, and Jesus talked about millstones. And I'm gonna read you a passage of scripture that talks about that in Matthew 18.
The disciples came to Jesus and they said, hey who's the greatest? And then the Lord Jesus called a little child to him and set that child right in the midst of these men and he said assuredly I say to you unless you are converted and become as little children you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, whoever receives one little child like this in my name receives me." So Jesus has these children there, and He's saying, become like children and receive Me. But then he said this about millstones and it's very scary whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were drowned in the depth of the sea." And then Jesus stood up straight. That's what the Bible says. So what Jesus is saying is if you cause a little one to stumble, it's better that you'd have that millstone hung around your neck and thrown into the sea.
And let me tell you something, you'd go down really fast. You wouldn't be able to get back up it's they are just so heavy and fathers can cause their children to stumble be careful fathers Remove anything that would cause your children to stumble. And you sons! You sons can cause other children to stumble too. And the Lord gives a very dramatic warning in millstones.
I hope you never forget about the millstones. Whenever you come on this property, I want you to think about the millstones. I have these millstones here to help people to think. That's why they're here. They're not decorations.
They are actually tools to help people think about how they're treating children and whether they're causing their children to stumble. And it's also to help children to think whether they're causing any of their friends to stumble as well. It's so important that you understand millstones. You know the Lord Jesus said if there's if there's if your hand causes you to sin cut it off. It's better for you to enter life lame or maim than to have two hands or two feet and to be cast into everlasting fire.
What he's saying is that you should cut out everything that causes you to stumble. I don't know if you've ever worked around farm equipment before, but farm equipment is really dangerous. That's my tractor over there. And we're planting grass for our cows to eat right now. But my brother-in-law, who has a big farm in Nebraska, was telling me about a story about a man who caught his clothing in a combine and this is an older man and he caught his clothing in the combine and it started dragging him in his drew he's chewing up his arm and it was going to drag the whole rest of his body in so he cut off his arm because it was going to kill him that was the right thing to do that was the most reasonable thing to do and that's what Jesus is saying if there's sin in your life, cut it off.
It'll kill you.
