Dear friends, just to make some remarks on this passage that we have been reading and apply some words to our hearts. Here the psalmist is explaining about his soul. He says there are times in his life that his soul faints, his soul is weak. But this is not the kind of weakness or fainting that we think of. He's saying he desires, he longs for God's salvation.

He says, I hope in thy word. That's his hope. What is the hope of your life? In what do you put your trust in? He goes on to explain about his troubles.

He goes on to explain about the fact that that he has become like a bottle. This is the bottle that is made of skin of animals, and when it is left in the smoke, it dries up, it shrivels up. He says, I'm just like that, what am I going to do now? I'm going to talk to my friends, I'm going to worry about these things, I'm going to have many, many sleepless nights, I'm going to Do this and that to get out of this trouble? No, he doesn't say that.

He says, yet do I not forget thy statutes? He says, I don't even know how many days I have. He speaks about his enemies. He speaks about all of these people who are digging pits for him. And then he goes on to say, but the word of God doesn't change.

God's promises don't change. God is always the same. His word is always the same. His promises are always things that quicken us and make us alive and give us hope. And he says, I'm going to keep your testimonies, Lord.

I'm going to keep the testimonies of thy mouth, he says in verse 88. Is that how we respond? You know dear friends, The Word of God is such that it will last, it will continue on. He goes on to say, forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. Whatever people have tried to do, they've tried to destroy this book constantly.

But the Bible cannot be destroyed. It is indestructible. And if it is indestructible, dear friends, you can put your trust in it all the time. People come and people go. People try to criticize the word of God throughout the ages.

It's nothing new. But God's word remains when others die. Those who criticize it, they pass away. The world in which we are living in, it is filled with all the things that the Bible says about it. But you know, the Christian, he needs to walk by faith and not by sight.

He needs to go on looking to Jesus Christ. He's going to look to the word of God, which is Holy Spirit inspired, and the Christian needs to put everything he has in the things that the Lord Jesus Christ cherished. He loved the Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God. And so, dear friends, put your trust in the Word of God. It will not let you down.

People may mock you. People may ridicule you. People may accuse you of things. But, dear friends, there is a day that we all will appear before the Lord. And all of those powerful words we thought of words of men will fail, but the Word of God, it is settled in heaven.
