And we will begin reading in verse 29 of chapter 2 chapter 2 verse 29 and be reading down through verse 37 Acts 229 thus says the word of the Lord Men and brethren. Let me speak freely to you of the patriarch David That he is both dead and buried and his tomb is with us to this day Therefore being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body according to the flesh, he would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne. He, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ that his soul was not left in Hades Nor did his flesh see corruption This Jesus God has raised up of which We are all witnesses Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit He poured out this which you now see and hear For David did not ascend into the heavens but he says himself the Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the Apostles Men and brethren what shall we do?

And let's continue through verse 38 and 39 then Peter said to them Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ For the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit For the promise is to you and to your children and to all who are afar off as many as the Lord our God Shall call will call let us pray Our Heavenly Father we thank you for the very word of God that you have Given us this morning Lord Our ears have been filled with it Our tongues have have spoken it and Lord now we pray that you will fill our hearts with it because of the great work of The Holy Spirit of God to to take that Word of God and to make it Effectual to our hearts Lord, please do this great work because only you can I pray Oh Father for those Who are lost here this morning? I pray Oh God That you would quicken them by the Holy Spirit that this word your word would penetrate their hearts and bring them from the kingdom of darkness and Translate them into the marvelous light of the kingdom of your son and Lord.

We ask it in Jesus name Amen, and you may be seated Well, I'll be honest with you I woke up this morning early and Jeremiah was on my mind. Not just his words, but the thought in my heart was that I just feel like Jeremiah described. He felt that there was a fire in his bones that needed to get out because of this text. And this text that we have before us, as you know, and as I've mentioned in the weekly email, I want to describe to you this morning this third part, if you somewhat of a third part of the message here regarding a biblical or spirit-filled interpretation of the resurrection and the ascension of Christ, but these two words you will hear repeated and that is this, this Christ. That is who I am here to preach to you today This Christ who is described in this passage of Scripture.

So be listening kids be listening for those two words this Jesus or this Christ That's who I want to proclaim to you today. So listen for these words We've come as I said to this third message the first of which began with a biblical interpretation of the day of Pentecost And that's really kind of an overarching theme that describes for us what we see here in acts chapter 2 that That the day of Pentecost had come that the Holy Spirit of God had descended in powerful fashion That it was not something done in a corner and hidden But in fact it drew a crowd and when the crowd drew when they came to Some of them said men and brethren what can this be? What does this mean? What is going on here and others of those said these men are drunk with new wine You know whenever the spirit of God works there seems to be two ways of viewing what's taking place. Those who have no desire or no heart for the things of God say something crazy is happening here, something unusual is happening here and I don't want any part of it.

And then you have another group of people who God has given us a sincere heart, and they say, men and brethren, what does this mean? What is going on here? And they want to know more. They see something that is unique and unusual and can only be explained by the work of the Spirit of God. And so I pray that that is what happens here this morning, that it will be such a work of the Spirit of God that lives will be changed, that people will literally be taken from darkness to light, that your eyes would be open, that you would see the glorious gospel.

The second message that I brought was regarding a biblical interpretation of the life and death of Jesus Christ which we looked at last time and now I want us to look at this biblical interpretation and I call it that remember because this was Peter the Apostle filled with the Holy Spirit and he was describing and interpreting for the people what exactly was taking place. It was the perfect sermon because the Spirit of God was moving Peter to preach the very word of God so that they would know what is this and he tells them what it is. And so as I mentioned last time I get to do a very unusual thing I get to preach about the perfect sermon preached if you will. So Peter preached this great sermon and it was this biblical interpretation of what they were seeing with their eyes but what they did not fully understand and that's often the way it is when we come to the Word of God we see something that is very unusual and very wonderful but we need help We need God to give us understanding into his word so that we can be More mature in the faith that we can have a better understanding of what God is doing So remember this as we come to this text and in verse 29 that we are jumping right into the middle of Peter's sermon It's terrible to break up a sermon in so many different Sundays and so far apart.

You know, in my heart I'd like to just preach them all at once. But here we are right in the middle of Peter's sermon and he begins with this passage which in the in this sermon in this verse in verse 29 which actually began back in verse 14 and let me show you what he says there in verse 14 he says but Peter standing up with the 11 raised his voice and said men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem let this be known to you and heed my words that's how he began his sermon That's how he began speaking and interpreting the truth of God's Word for the people who were gathered there today. Remember, a crowd had gathered wondering what in the world was going on. And he began this message there. He wanted not only these men, he wanted all men, which would be all people in Jerusalem and not only Jerusalem because we know that the Great Commission began there but did not end there But it goes to the uttermost parts of the earth And he began there desiring that they would have an understanding of what was taking place It is as if with the coming of the Holy Spirit in such a dramatic and undeniable Way that God was getting their attention so that they would hear the word of God, so that they would understand what was taking place.

To some they thought, as I said, that they were drunk and to others they asked this all important question, whatever could this mean? So Peter explains it to them in the prophecy of Joel, that's where he begins. And then Peter switches gear as if to say, now that God has your attention, this is what the Lord wants you to understand verse 22 men of Israel hear these words Jesus of Nazareth a man attested to you tested by God to you by miracles and wonders and signs Which God did through him in your midst as you yourselves also know Him being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God you have taken by lawless hands you have crucified and put to death whom God raised up having loosed the pains of death because it was not possible that he should be held by it you think he had their attention I do I think they saw this miraculous thing going on. They heard this sound as of a rushing, mighty wind. They heard and they saw these men speaking with tongues and languages that they did not currently know.

But the Spirit of God took this and brought it into their ears and they heard in their own language God had their attention and Peter stood to preach and His preaching was this men of Israel hear these words and it was Jesus Christ. It was Jesus Christ from his life, it was Jesus Christ in his death, it was Jesus Christ in his burial and resurrection, and it was Jesus Christ in his ascension. And those last two are what we're gonna focus on today. This was what God was doing. And then he quotes Psalm 16 in this sermon because he wanted them to understand that their vision and their expectation of what David spoke of in Psalm 16 and and also he References here in other ways and in other passages throughout the book of Acts There's reference there to Psalm 2 and Psalm 22 and all through the Psalms He's wanting him them to understand that God was doing something in the heart of David.

David is called in this passage a prophet. He spoke, he foretold of the things of Christ so that they would understand that what David said did not only refer to David but in a much Greater way referred to the Lord Jesus Christ and this was the centrality of their preaching Over and over and over again. It was this Jesus this Jesus this Jesus That was what they needed to hear and that's what we need to hear That is where our eyes need to be turned. So as we see in verses 29 and 30 that David was not the fulfillment of Psalm 16. He goes right down through there and he speaks about his, you will not leave my soul in Hades nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption.

So Peter wants to pick up here and he wants them to understand he's not talking about David. It's this Jesus. So Peter's argument here is to prove the point that Jesus is the Messiah. He's the long-awaited for one that was going to come and that would fulfill the Old Testament prophecies. His first proof of this is that David's tomb is occupied.

It's there among us today. Look at what he says in verse 29. Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you Of the patriarch David that he is both dead and buried and his tomb is with us to this day There's proof. It wasn't David visible proof Physical proof you could see it you could touch it Probably smell it. I don't know.

Let's don't go there But he it was proof that it was there. That this was not what they were talking about. It was not David of which David was talking about, but rather it was the Lord Jesus Christ. And then look back in verses 25 through 28 He says for David says concerning him I foresaw the Lord always before my face for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken Therefore my heart rejoiced and my tongue was glad moreover my flesh also will rest in hope for you will not leave my soul in Hades, nor will you allow your Holy One to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life.

You will make me full of joy in your presence." Speaking of the ascension of Jesus Christ when he is seated at the right hand of the Father, full of joy in his presence. And it's interesting here because as I mentioned we see in verse 30 that David is called a prophet. Oftentimes we don't think about David as being a prophet. There's many prophets in the Old Testament. We don't often think of David.

We think of David as being a king. But here David is a prophet. And picturing what Jesus was going to be as we mentioned this morning in his role about being a prophet and a priest, he is the prophet, priest, and king. He is the true and ultimate David much greater than David And so in this we see that he was quoting From these Old Testament path of this Old Testament passage in the book of Psalms that this is not David This is Jesus Christ You know we have a taste of this in 1 Peter if you remember when we went through the book of 1 Peter. And Peter says this in 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 10.

He says, Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully who prophesied of the grace that would come to you Searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when he testified Beforehands of the sufferings of Christ And of the glories that would follow to them it was revealed that not to themselves But to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those Who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. These things which angels desire to look into. Peter is describing what took place here in the book of Acts in chapter 2, when the Holy Spirit, remember what he says here in Peter, he speaks about this gospel, who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. This is the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit has come.

It has empowered these men to preach the gospel and that gospel is Jesus Christ. It is Jesus Christ. The purpose of the Day of Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit was to equip these disciples with the boldness and understanding so that they could preach Christ. Of course, the Holy Spirit's coming was also to seal us until the day of redemption. He came to convict us of sin.

He came to testify of judgment to come. But one of the main ministries of the Holy Spirit is to guide us into all truth and to give us boldness to preach Christ. That is just what happened here. God swore an oath in the Old Testament That this is what would happen that of David's lineage There would be one who would come in second Samuel chapter 7. This is what is written Since that since the time that I commanded the judges This is God speaking to be over my people Israel and have caused you to rest from all your enemies Also, the Lord Tells you that he will make you a house.

He's speaking to David here I'm gonna make you a house and when your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers I will set up your seat after you who will come from your body and I will establish his kingdom He shall build a house for my name think about this in 1st Peter we are told that we are living stones in the building of God he is fulfilling that and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever I will be his father and he shall be my son if he commits iniquity I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men Jesus never committed iniquity, but he bore our iniquity and God did that He brought chastening upon Jesus Christ in our stead Isaiah 53 But then he goes on but my mercy shall not depart from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you, and your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you, your throne shall be established forever." Can you imagine what the Jews thought of when they saw Jerusalem fall and there was no more kings?

I'm sure their hopes in many ways were dashed. But to some extent, they hoped in what was to come because throughout the Gospels we see that the Jewish people knew that there would be a Messiah and that he would be the son of David. They had some light but not the full light. Their eyes were still covered with a veil because they could not see that it was Christ. David's son stood before them and they crucified him.

One man notes that the promises made to David in these places had immediate reference to Solomon and his descendants. But it is clear that the New Testament writers understood them as referring to the Messiah. And it is no less clear that the Jews understood that the Messiah was to be the descendant from David. One of these passages we find in Matthew 22 and verse 41 where Jesus says regarding Jesus, while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asks them saying, what do you think about the Christ? Remember Christ there is the title, or regarding the anointed one, it's the equivalent of Messiah.

What do you say then, or what do you think about the Christ or the Messiah? Whose son is he? This was the great question. They said to him, the son of David. They understood that much, but they did not understand the completion of it.

You see, it's beyond doubt that the Jews knew and expected that the Messiah would be of the lineage of David. In that way, these promises that were made to David were understood as applying to the Messiah. It is easily determined because throughout the gospels we see they knew this was speaking of the Son of David. But Peter here by the instruction and the power of the Holy Spirit makes David's words clear. You see that's what was needed.

They needed the clarity of the interpretation of the Holy Spirit, and that's what we need this morning. We all need, we need the Holy Spirit of God to teach us this morning. What does this mean? What does this mean? And just as our brother Josh said, there's two types of people here this morning.

There are those who have placed their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and they understand what this means, because the Holy Spirit has given you understanding. And there are others of you here this morning who are lost, who have never bowed the knee to Jesus Christ and You are there with a veil over your eyes and you cannot see the light that is right in front of you You are just like what we spoke about over the father-daughter weekend that you are in darkness until now And I pray by the power of the Holy Spirit of God that that darkness will be removed Because the light of the gospel shines in your heart That is my desire for each of those who are here this morning who do not have Christ But secondly we see that David's prophecy regarding the resurrection and ascension of Christ, verses 32 to 35, look at what he says here. This Jesus God has raised up of which we are all witnesses therefore being exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit He poured out this which you now see and hear for David did not ascend it of the heavens But he says himself the Lord said to my Lord sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool.

Consider this. Now it is like Peter takes his 12 pound sledgehammer and drives his point home. This Jesus God has raised up of which we are all witnesses This Jesus the one that God attested to by miracles and wonders and signs This Jesus that was delivered by the determined purpose and the foreknowledge of God this Jesus the one whom you have taken by lawless hands this Jesus he who was the That was of the Jews crucified this Jesus God has raised up and we are all witnesses of it You here in this building this morning need to know that it is this Jesus that I am preaching to you today It is this Jesus who died on the cross as a substitute for your sin It is this Jesus that was Raised again to life for the justification of your wretched life and it is this Jesus that if you do not confess Him as Lord and Savior you will stand before Him as judge You will be partakers with those of Matthew chapter 7. Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven. But he who does the will of my father in heaven, many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name cast out demons in your name and done many wonders in your name and Then I will declare to them.

I never knew you Depart from me you who practice lawlessness It will be you who sit here in this church week after week and hear the gospel and let it fall upon deaf ears and hardened hearts that will be cast into the lake of fire. And for all eternity you will curse your foolish self because you convinced yourself that there would be a more convenient time than today. Convenient time than today Why do you delay? There is no better time than the present time to believe the gospel. What are you waiting for?

What more can I say? What more can I do? What more can the Word of God tell you and teach you? What more? Awake from your sleep, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved for everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord Shall be saved What is causing your delay it is this Jesus whom you have rejected until this present time that has been exalted to the right hand of God and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit he poured out this which you now see and hear Again he proves his point through David and verse 34 For David did not ascend into the heavens But he says himself the Lord Said to my Lord sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool It is this Jesus who sits at the right hand of God it is this Jesus upon whom you must be you must call in order to be saved and Finally It is this Jesus who is both Lord and Christ Now in verse 36 Peter pulls his whole sermon back together in one statement Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ.

Not only did Peter want these here in front of him, this gathered crowd to hear that this Jesus was both Lord and Christ, but he wanted all the house of Israel to know that this Jesus is both Lord and Christ and that from this day forward Peter and the Apostles and all the disciples of Christ from that time till this Will never be content and we will never rest Not only all of the house of Israel has heard but we will never be content until all the world has heard that assuredly that this Jesus is both Lord and Christ. We will preach it until our dying breath. We will preach it from this time until he comes. We will never be silent. We will preach that this Jesus is Lord in Christ and that if you do not bow before him now as Lord and Savior You will bow before him on that day as your judge Can you imagine how these people?

Must have felt Here stands Peter the man who just just a few days prior we read this in the Gospel of Luke. And having arrested Jesus they led him and brought him into the high priest house. But Peter followed at a distance. Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire looked intently at him and said This man was also with him but he denied him saying woman I do not know him and After a little while another saw him and said you also are of them, but Peter said man.

I am NOT and then after about an hour had passed another confidently infirmed saying surely this fellow also was with him for he is a Galilean but Peter said man I do not know what you are saying and Now here stands Peter Boldly declaring that he wants not only these here But I want all the house of Israel to know that this Jesus whom you crucified is both Lord in Christ What in the world happened to Peter the man who was once scared of a servant girl and said no way I don't know him is now standing before the crowd and he said I want everybody to know this that Jesus Christ is Lord. What happened to this man? He was filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Peter is so empowered by the work of the Holy Spirit that he is no longer walking in the power of Peter but he's walking in the power of the Holy Spirit before he cowered before its servant girls and now he stands boldly before crowds of men declaring the truth of the gospel that Jesus Christ is Lord Can you imagine what was going through the crowd's minds when Peter said this?

Put yourself there. We don't have to imagine because we are told exactly what they were thinking and that's seen in verse 37. Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles men and brethren what shall we do? What a great question. Have you asked yourself this question?

What shall I do? You may be asking yourself that question right now. We would do well to consider this question. Peter has just preached one of the greatest messages recorded in the New Testament. And his passion coupled with the clear biblical interpretation of what they were seeing brought this crowd together of sincere hearers to this great point of dilemma.

They felt the conflict of their souls. Here the long-awaited Messiah had come but they didn't see it. They knew there was a Messiah coming. They knew that it would be the Son of David but they did not see the Messiah standing before them and they crucified him. In fact they rejected him no worse they put him upon a cross and nailed him to it and mocked him.

We don't know exactly who was present in this crowd this day but Peter seems to know or at least the Holy Spirit inspiring Peter to speak what he spoke the Holy Spirit knew who was there and Peter says with confidence this Jesus whom you crucified what we see is amazing. They owned that statement. They didn't say, that wasn't us. The Romans did that. That wasn't us.

That was the religious leaders. That wasn't us. That was the high priest. That wasn't us. That was Pilate.

They didn't do that. The Spirit of God convicted them to such an appoint that they understood that their involvement in the crucifixion of Christ was to such an extent that they were guilty of the crucifixion of Christ They recognized that they had taken part and were guilty of murder And not only murder but the murder of the very Messiah that they were long awaiting the son of David and with conviction and great fear They knew that they were guilty and with a Unified voice they said men and brethren. What shall we do? Is there any hope of being delivered from such a sin? What have we done How can we escape the judgment of God when we have killed the Messiah?

And Can I say to you who think your sin is worse than that? Do you think Christ can't save you? All excuses are wiped away. Is there any hope of being delivered from such an act? Can you feel that?

Can you imagine being in their shoes? You are. You are. And I am. Without Christ, we are guilty.

Without Christ, we are guilty. How is this? How are we guilty? How am I guilty? How are you guilty of the death and crucifixion of Christ?

Romans 3 10 says this, as it is written, there is none righteous, no not one. There is none who understands, there is none who seek after God. They have all turned aside, they have together become unprofitable, there is none who does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open tomb, with their tongues they have practiced deceit the poison of asp is under their lips whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness their feet are swift to shed blood destruction and misery are in their ways and the way of peace they have not known There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may become guilty before God.

Jesus was not crucified for nothing. It was no arbitrary death. First John 2, 2 says, and he himself is the propitiation for our sins. He's the satisfaction of God's wrath for our sins. Galatians 1 3 and 4 says, grace to you and peace from God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who gave himself for our sins and 2nd Corinthians 5 21 says for he made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us That's how we're guilty of Crucifying the Lord Jesus Christ is because he died on the cross for our sins And so we are just like the crowd you can't escape it What shall we do?

Timothy Crusoe Puritan said the guilt of every sin is infinite by reason of the object against whom it is committed. And This can never be expiated by the utmost torments of an infinite creature of a excuse me of a finite creature Let me read that last part again and This can never be expiated by the utmost torment of a finite creature. It had to be done by an infinite creature who was not a creature but the Creator. It had to be done by the Lord Jesus Christ who propitiated your sin upon the cross. But not only that, listen to what Jeremiah Burrow said.

God never showed his hatred of sin as much as he did in Christ. When God sent his son into the world to die for man's sin, he is saying, they shall see the extent to which I hate sin and how I deal with my son. You want to know how bad God hates sin? Look at what he did to Christ upon the cross and Don't forget that it was your sin and mine that he bore there this is heavy do you see everyone in this place this morning who has not come to Christ should and by rightful guiltiness ought to cry out with this crowd even now men and brethren what shall I do? Well Peter does not leave you there and neither will I.

Listen to the words of Peter in verse 37 Excuse me verse 38 then Peter said to them repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and You shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit What does it mean to repent? Josiah Shutt says, a Puritan, says, true repentance Is when a man grieves for his sin to the extent that he abandons it? Repentance in the simplest form just means to turn, to turn away from your sin. What does it take to turn? Simply put, but yet terribly difficult to admit, is that you are a sinner deserving of God's wrath and that you need repentance.

Acknowledge that you have sinned against an infinitely holy God. And then peter says to be baptized for the remission of sins don't be confused by this This does not in any way mean that the waters of baptism Remisses your sin you from any of your sins but rather Peter puts forth the sign for the substance What then therefore does the sign of baptism mean? Baptism is the sign and the public acknowledgement that you have sinned against God, that you have come to Christ as your only hope to be delivered from the wrath of God. And that you are Trusting in him to be the satisfaction of the guilt of your sins that you rightly have merited That Christ alone can satisfy God's just wrath against you The waters of baptism are a sign that you publicly proclaim that you have died to the old man, that you have been buried with Christ in the waters of baptism, and that you have been raised to new life because of the death burial resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ and that you publicly proclaim that you will follow Christ for the rest of your life So when Peter says repent and let every one of you be baptized for the remission of sins This is what he means He's not saying that water will somehow save you or expiate your sin.

He's saying the sign of baptism is what actually remisses, not the sign, but the substance of the sign of baptism actually remisses your sins. It actually removes your sins because what is it? It is pointing to the work of Christ alone and what he did upon the cross. And baptism is your identification with him, being in Christ. So I leave you with two actions.

First for the believer and then for the unbeliever. For the believer, what does this mean for you? This message, this gospel message of salvation, of you're hearing this repent, you're hearing this judgment of God if you don't repent, what does it mean for the believer? Is there something that you can do? Let's see.

This weekend we had this most glorious scripture that we memorized, 1 Peter chapter 2, 9 and 10. If you were at the father dollar you heard this and hopefully you have most of it memorized and this is what it says but you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, his own special people, that. Why did I stop there? I love grammatical keys. It helps us.

The word that tells us the reason Or the purpose He says he's called us He's chosen us as a we're a Chosen generation. We're a royal priesthood. We're a holy nation. We're his own special people that you who? Those whom he just described if you're a believer, that's you that you believer May proclaim the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light who once were not a people but now are the people of God who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy how glorious is that you are those believer you're that person who is now a chosen generation.

You're royalty because your father is a king. You are that one who is now a holy nation, separate and different, is there any doubting that we are different from the world? Praise the Lord. And this was our focal point, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him. So brothers and sisters, go forth this day and forevermore, proclaiming the praises of our great God and King, who delivered you from the wrath to come.

Who delivered you from the kingdom of darkness and translated you into the kingdom of light praise Him praise Him praise Him think of the Psalms with me praise Him all you heavenly hosts praise Him in His sanctuary praise Him that is what you should do think about what He has done think about it You're just like one of those standing in the crowd thinking, what shall I do? As a believer, you shall praise Him. Praise Him. For the unbeliever, I've already told you what to do Repent and believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ this Jesus who was crucified because of your sin offers you full salvation free to you but not to him Jesus paid it all and all to him I owe sin had left a crimson stain but listen he will wash it white as snow. Repent of your sins and trust in Christ alone to save you from wrath and judgment of God that you so rightly deserve.

And then, as Peter says, in obedience to that, be baptized and publicly declare your allegiance to Christ. And then join us in 1 Peter 2, verses 9 and 10 and praise Him praise Him praise Him and I want you to know that at the end of this service Scott and I will be up here for anyone who would like to talk about this very subject. If you're here this morning and you know that you are lost, that you are one of those I'm talking about, you're identifying with the crowd and you know you need to repent and you know that you need Christ, we're here for you. We'll pray for you. We will declare more fully the gospel and we will pray that God would save your soul.

Father we thank you for that and Father I pray also for the person here today who knows that they are lost in their sins that they deserve your right judgment because they have sinned against a holy God.

Lord would you save them today? Today, oh Lord, help them to know today is the day of salvation. There is no better day than today. I ask it in Jesus' name, Amen.
