We appreciate this opportunity. Let's begin in John's Gospel, chapter 1. John 1. John chapter 1. Begin in verse 1.

John 1, verse 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men and the light shineth in the darkness and the darkness comprehended it not.

So we see there in verse 1, in the beginning was the word. So before anything was, the word was. In eternity past. Genesis Chapter 1 verse 1 tells us in the beginning God, and that is before anything was created, God was with His only begotten Son in heaven. And the Word was with God, so we see that the Word was separate from the Father.

And the Word was God. He is God. He is the Messiah. He is the sovereign Lord of the universe. He is the only wise God.

God in the Word was God. Verse 2, the same was in the beginning, that is before anything was created in eternity past, the same was in the beginning with God. Verse 3, we find that He is the Creator. All things were made by Him. Notice how precise and without Him was not anything made that was made.

So He is the Creator God. Not only that, verse 4, in Him was life. And the life was the light of men. So when the Lord bestowed eternal life, even with physical life, there was a sense of light, understanding some things But in our depravity we could not understand the things of God Then we see in verse 4 and here was life Life was the light of men verse 5 and the light shineth in darkness and the darkness Comprehended it now What we see in verse 5 is depravity. Man is the natural man, hence a man is in darkness.

The natural man, the unsaid man is in darkness. I want you to look with me back in Psalm 19. Psalm 19. Notice beginning in verse 7. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.

No one is ever saved apart from hearing or receiving the Gospel. The testimony of the Lord is sure making wise the simple. It is through the Word that we gain godly wisdom. The statutes of the Lord are right, Rejoicing the heart. The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.

In other words, when we study the scripture, we get a better knowledge of who God is, and His purposes, and his ways, his salvation. Verse 9, the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold. And how many people desire the word of God more than gold?

Well, it is certainly more precious than gold. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold. Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. More abide them as thy servant warned, and in keeping of them there is great reward." So we're warned and we're rewarded by reading, keeping, understanding the Word of God. I want to share with you this morning a message entitled, The Miracles of God.

The Miracles of God. And of course the greatest miracle of God is the Bible. Now The first miracle is the Bible itself. Eternal life is found in Christ, and the Bible points us to Christ. John 5 39 says, Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testify of me." The Bible consists of 66 books in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament.

The Bible was written by approximately 40 authors, that is, humanly speaking, over a period of 1, 500 years, and each one wrote under inspiration and direction of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is as originally written was and is divinely inspired and without error. Now this book unlike any other book tells us where we came from, why we are here, and where we're going when we leave this old world. This book was written over a period of 1500 years by holy men of God, many of whom never saw each other or read what they had written. Yes, there's not one single contradiction in all that they wrote.

Notice the Bible is a light for our understanding, a mirror for our self-knowledge, a sword for our conflict, honey for our delight, a hammer for our stubbornness, Meat for our strengthening, milk for our nourishment, seed for our sowing, and gold for our enrichment. Now let's consider some things about the Bible. Some things about the Bible. First we want to note the Bible was written by God. Written by God.

Secondly, we want to note the Word of God is honored above the name of God. Thirdly, we want to consider the Word of God is eternal. Fourthly, we want to consider the Word of God is alive, active, and powerful. And then fifthly, the Word of God is light in a dark world. Sixth, the Word of God is life.

Is life. And seventh, the Word of God is pure. Notice first this morning concerning some things about the Bible. The Bible was written by God. Holy men of old wrote as they were moved along by the Holy Spirit.

I want you to look in 2nd Peter chapter 1. Notice if you will verse 21, for the prophecy that is the Word of God came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit took these holy men of old, moved their hearts, preserved their own personality, and yet wrote what God wanted written. Therefore the Bible is a God-bred book. All scripture is given by inspiration of God.

2 Timothy chapter 3 verse 16. Notice secondly the Word of God is honored above the name of God. Psalm 138. Psalm 138. Notice if you will Psalm 138 and verse 2.

I will worship toward thy holy temple and praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth. For thou has magnified thy word above thy name. Did you know you couldn't know the name of God? You couldn't know God apart from His word. So we must receive His word in order to know God.

It is only through knowledge of the scripture that we can come to know God. The written word declares the incarnate word who is the only way of salvation. The Lord Himself said I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me." John 14.1. Let us adore the Lord who has spoken to us by His word and by His Son.

Notice thirdly, the Word of God is eternal. As God's thrown in heaven, it is unshakable, and it is eternal. Psalm 119, let's look at that. Psalm 119 and verse 89. Psalm 119, verse 89.

Verse 89. Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven. The word of God will outlast the universe, which someday will cease to exist. The Lord Jesus said, or barely I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle shall in no way pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5 18.

The Bible is eternal, is the eternal Word of the eternal God. It has long proceeded and will long outlast every person who questions its validity and revelance. The Word of God will endure forever. 1 Peter 1.25 says, But the word of the Lord endureth forever, and this is the word by which the gospel is preached unto you. The word of the Lord will endure forever.

Now note, Satan knows that he cannot do away with the Bible, so today he is attempting to pervert it through new translations that are full of glaring errors. These new translations are seeking to bring God's Word to man's level. We are fed a line that no One can understand the old English words in the King James Bible, so we need a new Bible in the language of the street so that it can be better understood. We don't need a new Bible, we just need to read the one we have. And notice fourthly this morning, the Word of God is alive, active, and powerful.

Look in Hebrews, Hebrews chapter 4, beautiful truth here. Hebrews chapter 4, and notice if you will verse 12. Hebrews 4, 12. For the word of God is quick, that means it is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Word of God is alive, it is powerful, and it penetrates man's very being.

Look at verse 13, neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight, but all things are naked open unto the eyes of him whom we have to do. So the Lord knows all, sees all, and his word penetrates man's heart. The Word of God brings sinners to see their need of a Savior. No one can ever be saved apart from hearing the Word of God. The word of God first, or sorry, second, I'm sorry, first Thessalonians, chapter two, first Thessalonians, notice chapter two, first Thessalonians chapter two, and verse, let's begin in verse 12 if you will.

That they all might be that they all might be damned who believe not the truth but had pleasure and unrighteousness." Now notice verse 13, but we are bound to give thanks always to God for you brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning, that's from before the foundation of the world, chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. Verse 14 were unto, he called you by our gospel, No one will ever be saved apart from hearing the gospel. He must hear the word to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So God has an elect people. He's chosen before the foundation of the world, but he calls them out in time through the preaching of the gospel.

Notice fifthly this morning, The Word of God is light in a dark world. It will direct our steps and guide our ways. Look again, Psalm 119. Psalm 119. Notice, if you will, beginning in verse 105, beautiful truth here, Psalm 119, verse 105, thy word is a lamp unto my feet.

So as you're walking in this life, going through the journey of life, the Word will give light. Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my path." So you can miss a lot of pitfalls in life by studying and knowing and receiving the Word of God. Now look at verse 130, Psalm 119, 130. The entrance of thy words giveth light, it giveth understanding unto the simple. So the Lord gives us understanding, gives us wisdom as we spend time in His Word.

Now as Israel was guided by a pillar of fire in the wilderness, so are we guided by the Word of God. Now look with me back in Exodus, Book of Exodus, Genesis Exodus. I want you to notice chapter, Exodus chapter 13. Exodus 13, here we have the wanderings of Israel through the wilderness, but I want you to notice verses 21 and 22, Exodus 13, 21. The Lord went before them by day in the pillar of a cloud to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, to go by day and night.

He took not away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night from before the people." So he guided by the pillar of fire in the wilderness, and we are guided by the Word of God. Now look again in Numbers chapter 9. The book of Numbers chapter 9. Numbers 9, let's look, beginning at verse 15, and on that day, and on the day that the tabernacle was raised up, the cloud covered the tabernacle, namely the tent of the testimony, and at even there was upon the tabernacle, as it were, appearance of fire until morning. So it was always the cloud covered by, covered it by day and the appearance of fire by night.

And when the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that the children of Israel journeyed and in the place where the cloud abode the children of Israel pitched their tents. So they were led by this cloud in the daytime in the pillar of fire at night. And so we are guided by the Word of God. Now the Bible will lead us to the eternal shores of glory. Look again with me in 2nd Peter, 2nd 2nd Peter chapter 1.

2nd Peter chapter 1. And notice verse 19. 2nd Peter 1 19. We have also a more sure word of prophecy, Worry until you do well that you take heed, Until a light that shineth in a dark place, Until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts." The Lord's coming. But until He comes, we are to continue in His Word.

Notice again this morning the Word of God is life. The Word of God is life. The Word of God is life. The believer is born again by the Word of God. Now again, back in 1 Peter 1, 1 Peter chapter 1, I want you to notice verse 23.

Very clear testimony to the Word of God, 1 Peter 1, 23, being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which liveth and bideth forever. So we're born again of the Word of God. No one will ever be saved apart from receiving the Word of God. The written word points us to the incarnate word, that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Now back in John chapter 1, I want you to notice beginning in verse 1, John 1 verse 1.

In the beginning was the Word, that is the Logos, speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ. And the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men.

Now look at verse 14, John 1 14. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father. The faith to be saved comes from hearing the Word. Romans chapter 10 verse 17 says, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. So we must hear the word in order to be saved.

Look at me just quickly over in Romans chapter 1. Romans 1. I want you to notice verse 16. Romans 1 16. For I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power, that word power is from the Greek word dynamo, from which we get dynamite.

So the Word of God is the dynamite that God uses To bring sinners to salvation look at it for I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to us Gentiles. Amen. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed, noticed, from faith to faith as it is written, the just shall live by faith. The Word of God, number seven, the Word of God is pure. The Word of God is pure.

Notice again, if you will, Psalm 12. The twelfth Psalm. And notice Psalm 12 and verses 6 and 7. Psalm 12 verse 6. The words of the Lord are pure words, as silver tried in the furnace of earth, purified seven times." That means it's perfectly pure.

Thou shall keep them, O Lord, thou shall preserve them from this generation forever. Now we should love God's Word because it is pure. Again in Psalm 119, Psalm 119, And I want you to notice Psalm 119 verse 140. Psalm 119 and verse 140. Thy word is very pure, therefore thy servant loveth it." God's word is a defense to those who trust in the Lord.

Look in Proverbs, Psalm Proverbs chapter 30. Proverbs 30, notice verse 5. Every word of God is pure, He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him. So we put our trust in the Word of the Lord and the Lord of the Word and He is a shield. He will protect us, He will guide us, He will lead us, He will bless us.

And eventually, He'll take us home to be with Him. The Word of God is a cleansing agent to those who read it and heed it. We are washed by the water of the Word when we're saved. Ephesians chapter 5 and verse 26. We are washed in our daily lives as we read the Word of God.

Look in John 15, the Gospel of John, chapter 15. Notice, if you will, verse 3. John 15, verse 3. Now are you clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. And so we are clean through the Word of God.

Through the Word of God. Now, why don't you look with me in John's Gospel, Chapter 1 again. John, Chapter 1, talking about the Word of God. Here in John 1, we see the Incarnate Word, but there is also the Written Word, and they are different. In other words, had a Jehovah's Witness come to our door one day, was arguing with our daughter about the word that's found here in John 1.

And this guy tried to tell my daughter that John was writing about the written word. And folks, that's not hard to prove what he was really writing about. Look at verse 14 again. John 1, 14. And the word was made flesh.

Now look at that guy in the face and I says when was the word made flesh I mean this is about as clear as you can say it amen So here he's talking about the Incarnate Word. I don't know if you ever thought about why John declares Christ to be the logos, the Word. The reason is because Christ is the revelation of God. In other words, God became a man, walked this earth, preached the word, and he declared to men that he was the only way of salvation. And folks, that's the only way we can know the way of salvation is through the Lord Jesus Christ the Word.

And so we have not only the incarnate Word who came to provide salvation for us and to show us our sin and our need of a Savior, who the Savior is and how we can be saved, but we also have the written word which instructs us in the incarnate word. And so we have here the Word of God, but we find that John here is simply mentioning the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. There we see in verse 14, but look at verse 15. John bear witness of him and cried saying, this was he of whom I spake. He that cometh after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.

See, He's the eternal word and He was here long before John ever got on the scene. Verse 16, and of His fullness have all we received and grace for grace. Now look at verse 17, for the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. That is the incarnate Word. God became a man.

Verse 18, no man has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. So no one really has seen God or has had seen God before Christ came into the world. Now they had word of God through the Old Testament, the prophets, but they had not seen God. But when God became a man in visible form on this earth, then man could see God.

They looked God in the face when they looked in the face of Jesus Christ. He is God and He's coming again. He's coming again as the Lord Jesus Christ. And one day we will see him as he is. What a great truth.

So I conclude the Word of God is precious. Look at again Psalm 119, Psalm 119. So you see Psalm 119 has a lot to say about the Word of God, amen? Psalm 119, I want you to look at verse 127. Psalm 119, verse 127.

Therefore I love thy commandments above gold, yea above fine gold. What do I mean, he really truly loved the Word of God above gold. How many choose gold over the Word of God to their own detriment? The Law Center needs to receive the Word in order to be saved. Faith come by hearing, hearing by the Word of God.

The born-again believer needs to feed on the Word in order to grow into spiritual maturity. I want you to look back with me in 1 John chapter 2. 1 John, the epistle of 1 John chapter 2. Chapter 2. Notice, if you will, like verse 1, my little children, these things write unto you that you sin not, and if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.

And He is a propitiation for our sins, not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. Now back in 1 Peter chapter 1, look at 1 Peter 1 and verse 2. As new-born babes desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow thereby. So the believer needs to feed on the Word of God in order to grow into spiritual maturity. And so I close with this question, is the Word of God precious to you?

Let's pray. Lord we thank you for your Word, not only for the Incarnate Word, but the Written Word. Thank you, Lord, for the ministry of your Holy Spirit who takes that Word and applies it to hearts. Thank you, you use your word to search hearts and Lord you know our need this day. Pray Lord you would speak to each heart here.

Lord we thank you for your mercy and grace on our behalf and just pray that you would glorify your name. Thank you for your word and pray place your word on our hearts. Give us wisdom, Give us grace to keep on keeping on, and Lord, may your coming be soon. In Jesus' name, Amen. Thank you.
