Make me to hear joy and gladness that the loam which thou hast broken may rejoice in it. Hide my face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a bright spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence, take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation, and hold me with Thy free spirit. Then I will teach transgression as Thy ways and sinners shall be converted unto Thee. Deliver me from blood-giveness, O God, thou God of my salvation, and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

O Lord, open thou my lips, and my mouth shall flow forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice, else I will give it. Thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, and a broken and contrite heart. O God, thou wilt not despise.

Do good in thy good pleasure in Zion, and build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness with burnt offering and all song was there that's us all has seen for the center. That's us. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Amen.

One of the most unusual sights you'll ever see in your life. It's where I'm going to say that they're saved and they don't sin. That would be the most bizarre thing you'd ever be holding. With your eyes. We've all sinned, and we still sin.

And we're going to sin until we leave this life. We're not happy about it. We don't rejoice in it. We don't laugh about it. It's a fact of it.

The fact that we need to deal with it. Time and time again. David said in verse 5, Behold I was shaping in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. I'm a sinner. I've always been a sinner.

I was conceived in sin. I came forth from the womb speaking lies, and I've been lying ever since. And sinning ever since, that was sin of David, and that was sin of Job, and that can be sin of you not. Amen. Thus we have a psalm for the sinner.

In verse 16 and 17, He said, For thou desirest not sacrifice, else I would give it. Thou desirest not in burden offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart, O God, that we will not despise. Now You and I in our day and time, in this day of worship, you and I do not offer up bullets. We don't slay the animal and take their blood and pour it upon the altar in our day time.

But we do serve the Lord in the house of God. And I just wonder how many times we come into the we come into the house of God in our pride, unrepented, expecting for God to be satisfied with our service. That's something to think about. I go to church every time the doors are open. And I sing as loud as everybody else.

But are you living in an unrepentant state as a child of God. Now that's the question. We know where to worship and we know how to worship as far as the Word and all of that. But do we understand how God expects us to worship from the heart? I ask the question, what's happened to repentance?

You know in the world today, in the world's churches, repentance for salvation is not required. They have a list of many things. And on that list, a broken and contrite spirit is not required. They require other things, church ministerships, and baptism, And require other things, church membership, baptism, a few things like that, but no regrets. Is repentance often taxed?

Is repentance often times preached in the church that you remember? And as a preacher of God, is repentance One of your main things when preaching to sinners Did you still part of the Bible? Yes it is. John was not some lone crusader. When he said, Therefore repent and bring forth fruit, meat for repentance.

A change, what repeat means change in the turn of events. Our song has to do with David, Uriah, Bathsheba, and God. Four characters we think of in this story. If you're unfamiliar, King David was up on his rooftop one day and had noticed this beautiful woman bathing on another rooftop. Instead of turning, leaving, David with the eye of lust.

Lust is a big problem. He said, oh, that's just the nature of man. That's just how men are. How many times have you heard that? A man goes out on his wife and somebody has his speech.

That's just the way they are. Sinners that allow the lust of the heart to overcome them. Overconvail. See, it started out just to look, didn't it? See what it turned into.

It's dangerous out there. You know, ladies sometimes, women get mad because men are looking and lots of times women give them a reason to look. You know, that doesn't justify it. I'm just saying the way sinners are. And here, this sinner David, King David, ruler of Israel, lusting up on that roof.

Well, that lust is carried out. The affair happens. And because David fears of getting caught, he winds up killing, you're right, winds up killing a child of God. The Bible shows us not only the depth of depravity among unsaved sinners but also saved sinners. For David to do such a thing.

And for Mass even to do such a thing. Well he thinks maybe he forgets about God. He forgets about God who's everywhere. He forgets about God. He sees everything.

Until Nathan shows up. And After Nathan speaks to him a while, you know him. He comes up with this little story about a man taking this little view land from somebody that didn't have anything at all hardly and David's wrath just keeps building and building and finally Nathan says, thou art the man. God ever tell you thou art the man or thou art the woman? I know He has.

I know He has. Well, this song teaches us of David's repentance. This one is a half-hearted repentance. You know, I hear a lot. I hear a lot of people praying.

And lots of times, most of the time when I hear people mention anything about sin, it's just kind of a non-shut off thing. God forgive us our sins and you know go right on to something else. This story of true God brought repentance is something that all of us need and should experience. You've never been sorry for your sins, you've never been saved. I know when it came to sin after God saved me, I felt a whole lot different about sin.

A whole lot different. Well, let's notice some things. He cries out for mercy. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy love and kindness, according unto the multitude of Thy tender mercies, blow out my transgressions. I don't know about you, but I've got sins in my life as a child of God.

I wish a million times had never happened and I wish a million times I could never think of it. That's the attitude of a repentant sinner. God wipe him out, blow him out. You probably think like me, you think about the saints that have gone on to heaven before us. And sometimes you'll do something you shouldn't do and say something you shouldn't say and say, my goodness, and you know when I finally get reunited with them, do I want that?

Do I want that on my record? And Then you think, ah, far worse than that. Do I want God to announce that right here? You know, those who are saved, that sin doesn't bother them. And they're not worried about what God thinks about them and what heaven thinks about them.

But no, David was concerned about what God thought and desired that all of these sins be blotted out. Well, they are. And they were. You know, it was David's attitude. What he thought about them.

Seeing was not something that he was proud of. Seeing was something that he was ashamed of. I talk to people who are proud of their sins. I know one person told me that they had professed and they were saved and they had spiritual baptism and one day proceeded to tell me what they were involved in that had seen to be proud. Which, you know, any of us would have been like David and you know, won't that thing hinder them?

They were proud. I'm afraid that a lot of people have been deceived and there are a lot of people who think they're saved, they're not saved. I just merely base that on their attitude towards sin. He says, wash me thoroughly from my nakedness, cleanse me from my sin. From my naked to cleanse me from my sin.

God, I want to be clean again. One of my favorite sermons of Brother Joe Wilson is wallowing in the mire. He preached that. And that sermon, that sheep, it fell into the mud with that hog and got down there and wallowed around in that mud with that hog. And yet the hog got out of the mud and the hog felt fine.

The hog was in the hole. And that sheep just running around the hole, I'm filthy. I'm dirty. Somebody washed me, somebody claimed me, that's the way David felt. He was found there in adultery.

Adultery is still sin by the way. There's a lot of communities that still have laws on the books that adultery is illegal. Nobody enforces it. You're going to have something to say about it. Amen.

Your child, my child, whoever you want to talk about it, it sinned. Amen. And just the way David felt, it is a rotten sin. Yes. A despicable sin.

He felt bad, he should have felt bad, and he did. I'm glad David did feel bad. I'm glad he did feel bad. People have made repentance. It ought to be such this terrible thing.

But I'm glad you can repent. I'm glad you do repent. I'm thankful for repentance. Yes, we feel ashamed. And we ought to.

And we feel as low down as you can get sometimes. But there's repentance. He acknowledged his sin. I don't know how much that goes on. Again, there's just this jumping over sin and just throwing it in there very flippantly.

Now, God forgive us, we sin. I wonder how much better your worship would be and my worship would be if before we came to the house of God we acknowledged our sins. The acknowledgement of sin makes the grace of God more real, more vivid, more exciting. Somebody mentioned tears of what again. Don't you imagine that repentance has something to do with tears?

And don't you think we might see more tears if we had more repentance? I'm not calling for a show of hands, I'm not calling for everyone to come down to the altar and all this, but we have an altar. Christ, and I say go to the altar. If you haven't done a fair sin in your life, go to the altar right now and bow down before the altar and ask God to forgive you. It's necessary.

Necessary now david was king of a very many people a lot of people came in before david and addressed him as king and treated him like king He didn't feel like the king right now. He didn't feel much like the king. He wasn't acting like the king. Not a godly king. A worldly king acting like the king.

But I want you to notice that when David was brought to repentance, the only one that he could see before him was God. Before him was gone. Yes, he said he'd only sinned against God, but he killed Uriah. And he messed up Maseeb's life. And he had a child die, never caused that.

That doesn't mean that no one else was a fact. Right. You're not an island to yourself. Your life affects other beings. Amen.

If you don't care about yourself, at least care about those that you're around and those that you're with. Yeah. That God would bring you to repentance and keep you strapped. Sure. But so against me and thee only have I sinned, and none is evil.

All I could see was the God of heaven. I remember when I saved and I was brought to repentance, That's all I could see. It was God in heaven. It was going to judge me. I sinned against God.

I didn't know the depth of it. I didn't know a lot about the Bible. I knew two or three Bible characters, but I knew God. I knew that I sinned against God. I knew Christ died for me and I bowed down before God and repented.

You know what I'm talking about. Here's a sage man again he's brought to that point when you and I are found in sin and living in sin we're brought to that point again. Not fearful of going to hell, but fearful as Brother Pete preached on them. Fearful, that's what God's people are fearful of what God is going to do because of our sins. True repentance is not Just a fear that someone else may find out It's a fear that God has already found out When did David's life begin to change when Nathan came and said thou art the man?

David thanks to himself. Well, how did Nathan know that? Was Nathan down here hiding somewhere? No, God told Nathan. And Nathan told David.

Sometimes preachers are, people get mad at the preacher because they preach on certain things. You know, I don't know what the world's goes on down here in Georgia. Or over here in Florida, people from Florida here. I don't know what all goes on. And I may come down here and say something, and somebody, whoa!

Why do you say that? God said it. You understand that it's God that brings you to repentance. It's not going to be Nathan that tells it. But the man of God, are you reading the Bible yourself one way or the other most of the time the man of God is going to get up and preach and you're going to be convicted of your sin.

Thank God. God could let you go. God could let you go and you just be as worthless as can be in this life. Yeah. Thank God he doesn't do that.

Amen. Behold that was our truth in the end for part. God wants us to be honest with him. He knows we're sinners. How many of you, daggads, and you mothers, Your child has done something and you've told them.

All I want you to do is tell me the truth. You know they did. You know they did. But you want to hear them say they did. You want them to confess they did.

God, same way. He knows you've sinned. He knows what you did, how much you did, all about it. He wants you to tell him about it. God already knows it.

He wants you to tell him about he deserves truth in the inward parts He was repentant from the heart Courage me with his if he says and I shall be clean. So am I going to be clean? God, the only way I'm going to be clean is if you do it, Tager. You've already washed me as white as snow. I'm going to heaven.

I'm saved forever, but I'm dirty again. My life's dirty. And I've already proved that I can't do anything about it. That all I can do is mess up my life. And I want you God to clean me.

Would you please make me white again. Make me as white as snow. Well we got tar of that snow, I'll tell you that. On the high. Well that, Pete, Patty and I were talking about that, but that was the prettiest night.

And that I remember that last night again. It was the prettiest night. It would be wild like that. Make me to hear joy and gladness that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. David was broken down, he was a broken man.

I remember one time I went to pick tacos on a Sunday morning when I shouldn't have been in church, that's before I started preaching. And God gave me a herring. And I had the happiest herring. Because I'm still preaching about that all these years. I was happy that God gave me her.

Because He told me and showed me where I ought to be on Sunday morning. You know, everything else go out. David wanted to be happy. All that made me happy, and all that happened made me happy. Made me happy again.

Made me to hear with joy and gladness that the bones of a stout strobe may rejoice. Hide my face from my sins and blow out all my new creating me a clean heart no God and renew the right spirit with him oh God I've seen and I come to you and I want to make it right, I want to do right. God, help me to get this out of my heart and out of my mind. Sometimes, God's people will go to God and they'll ask forgiveness in the bag of their minds. They know full well that they're probably going to go back and do the same thing again.

I remember when I was a kid, that was pretty long. After my mother would beat me about half to death and she said, you're going to do that again? I said no. I was playing them the whole time. And saved sinners do that with God.

They do it with... They know they're not going to quit or stop, whatever they're doing. They know it. That is not biblical repentance. Or even a desire to repent biblically is not.

That's not a change, that's not a turnaround. Cast me not away from thy presence and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. I believe they were possessed. The Holy Spirit had dwell them in the Old Testament just like us. Some people don't believe that, but I do.

And I believe he was sealed with the Holy Spirit of problems until the day of redemption just like you and I and all the power of the Spirit it was God what a helpless people When the power of the Spirit of God is not there. Yeah. How's that? Man, You know what I'm talking about. Yeah.

He didn't want to lose him. Then, lastly, Repentance, restoration, restoring to me the joy of thy salvation. That's possible. Amen. You can be happy again.

Amen. As far as you have fallen, whatever you've gotten into, you can be happy again. This is between somebody else might not want to take it. Somebody else might say you can't. God says you can't.

As far as you and God are concerned, you too can be happy again. Restore to me the joy of thy salvation and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways, and sinners shall become worthy of thy name. Not only can you be restored, but you can be useful in the service of God. Some people are so hard, they're done with you for life if you mess up.

God's not that way. I don't know who we are, and I don't know what church has this power to pick and choose what sin is the worst that you can ever be used to get and all that. I don't know what I can biblically say, because it says right here before us, if you sin against God in heaven, repent of your sins, repent. God will forgive you. And there is life with God and life in the service of God after sin.

If you're here today and you have never trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ, If sin has never bothered you, if sin has never affected you and you have just flippantly lived in this life, un-caring, unaware of sin results, I point you to Jesus Christ who died for sin for all of his people, provided a way of salvation. I urge you to repent of your sins and come trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ for the saving of your soul. And as He forgives those who have already been saved, He will all those that come unto Him, believe in repenting of sin. May God help sinner and sight to repent.
