In the sermon 'Raising Fearless Sober Minded Daughters' by Scott Brown, the speaker emphasizes the importance of raising daughters who are fearless, sober-minded, and focused on their biblical calling. Brown highlights that society is engaged in an assault on womanhood, and it's crucial to counteract this by grounding daughters in strong biblical principles. The sermon stresses the critical role of fathers in nurturing and guiding their daughters, ensuring they grow up in a supportive, generational community rather than a fragmented one. The speaker argues that if women fail to understand and embrace their roles, it can lead to the breakdown of family and societal structures. Brown calls for a recalibration and renewed focus on the Word of God, encouraging fathers to secure their daughters' hearts through love and obedience to God. The sermon concludes with a prayer for unity, repentance, and generational strength among fathers and daughters.
Okay, here we go. I'm just going to give a very brief introduction and Trent's going to come up and say a few things and then I'm going to come back. And then after that we're going to have s'mores and then hey, there you go. After that, Deborah is going to bring up cheese and crackers probably before nine o'clockish, right sweetie? Is that about right?
Before bed. Before bed. You know, you've got to have a midnight snack before midnight and everything. So well, we've been doing this for about 25 years. And we do it every year for a specific person, or for a specific reason, purpose, prison, whatever that is.
We do it because the world is on an all-out assault against womanhood and daughters and men. And we want to every year lay down the doctrine, lay down the practice again just to remind everybody of the glory of God in a daughter and the glory of God in a father who is glorifying God and raising his daughter. And here's what we really pray for. We really pray for the unraveling of the deeds of the devil in the world. Because he is erasing womanhood as fast as you can erase anything, but he's not doing it He's not doing it with you, and we want to make sure that doesn't happen in our generation with the people that we we know We we're looking for daughters who are fearless We're looking for daughters who are sober minded We're looking for daughters who are fearless.
We're looking for daughters who are sober minded. We're looking for daughters who are strong. We're looking for daughters who are focused on their calling to be relentlessly, unswervingly focused on their calling as women. We want to see that happen from their youth up in an unbroken pattern of really fulfilling the biblical vision. Now we've been doing this for a long time and one of the things that I can see in our own local church is You don't see a bunch of silly young girls in our church.
Maybe they are, but I don't know who they are. Usually you can tell a scattered, fretful, fearful, trying to impress everybody young girl, particularly in her teens. And we don't have them in our church. And I think one reason we don't have them in our church is because we have fathers who did not facilitate that, and we had daughters who actually listen to their fathers and they actually lived a life in a generational community not a fragmented community where you throw 13-year-old girls together with 13-year-old girls so they can act silly. Obviously, if you know our church, we're not against young people having relationships and having friends and things like that.
That's actually a very good thing. But there's something very different than when you create a culture of 13-year-oldism. It's a silly culture. So we're here really to lay down the doctrine again. And my guess is many of you have heard some of these same things along the line but the Bible is the Bible is always repeating itself so that we get it so that we keep being reminded you know when I get up in the morning and read the Bible, I read things that I've read many, many times, but guess what?
I need it every time. Isn't that amazing? The Word of God is not something that you cover and move on. You cover it over and over again and it keeps on working with you. And it's such a joy that we have this treasure in the Word of God that He's so kind to keep us being reminded of the things that we really need to know.
Here's the bottom line. If women fall away from their role, the whole world falls apart. I hope you really understand that. Because when a woman rejects her role, it makes it impossible for men to rule, and it makes it impossible for men to lead. It makes it impossible for a family to have cohesion.
It blows the family apart. If a woman does not understand who she is and how critical it is that she play her role, she actually disarms every good thing in the family. And I think that's why the devil went after Eve first. He went after Eve first because he knew that there were thousands of generations down the line that would be impacted as a result so we think this is such an important thing and and I'm glad that you're here because you obviously think it's important but let's let's sort of recalibrate again let's reset again let's review the Word of God again and and and look into this interplay between a father and a daughter now you fathers it's really important that you know how to raise a daughter. Daughters are different.
You know they're different. You know it cracked me up when I had three daughters and one son. And when my son was born I thought whoa this is a different creature that's the way God planned it and But fathers need to understand what they're doing. And I'm going to talk about that tomorrow in a couple of different ways. You know, when Solomon said, my son, give me your heart, he wasn't just talking about boys.
He was really talking about this relationship between fathers and their children. And I want to say to you fathers, make sure that you have secured the heart of your daughter and that in ten different ways, maybe a hundred different ways, you have said to your daughter, daughter give me your heart. Because you don't get your daughter's heart by just saying daughter give me your heart. A daughter is willing to give her heart when she has a particular kind of father that is obedient to God. And that daughter knows that her father loves her and has the best for her.
Now There are times when a father is going to cross up the will of a daughter. I'm going to talk about that tomorrow. There's an entire chapter in the Bible that speaks about this. I plan to bring it up tomorrow. So that's what we're doing.
We're laying it down again. But maybe in an unrelated way, when I got up this morning, I opened the Gospel of John in John chapter 10, and there was something that hit me like a ton of bricks and I wanted to repeat it this morning or this afternoon this evening Jesus says my sheep hear my voice and I know them and they follow me and I give them eternal life and they shall never perish neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand my sheep hear my voice And when I read that I thought, I pray that every father and daughter hears the voice of their shepherd while we're together. Because He will speak, and the reason I know He will speak is that we are going to bring the Word of God. And when the Word of God is spoken, God is speaking. So let's pray.
Lord, We thank you for this inspiring vision, this beautiful way of fathers and daughters in the world. Lord, I pray for such might, such glory to be emanating from these fathers and daughters. Lord, if there's repentance that needs to take place, if there's reconciliation, if there's hardness of heart that has grown, I pray, O God, that by the power of your Holy Spirit you would soften hearts and you would cause a great unity for many, many years to come, for many generations. Amen.
